For the first time since 2019, an entire team comprised of staff and members of CCA Global Partners gathered in New York City to participate in the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation’s Tunnel to Towers 5K.
The annual event, which traces late firefighter Stephen Siller’s final hours on foot through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel in the immediate aftermath of September 11, 2001, is held in memory of the thousands of first responders and civilians that lost their lives that fateful day.
Members and staff of Carpet One Floor & Home, Flooring America, Flooring Canada, International Design Guild, and Floor Trader collectively raised over $242,000 during the September 25th race, which drew thousands to New York City.
“Taking part in the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation 5K in NYC is a highlight every year,” noted Frank Santaniello, Vice President, Member Services & Operations for Carpet One Floor & Home. “Our CCA Global members and staff care so deeply about this foundation that it has become engrained in our culture overall.”
Over 150 team members, joined by Mohawk representatives, participated in the pivotal weekend, which also included a Statue of Liberty Cruise and other team building events. Some walked the course and others ran, while still others assisted at the finish line, handing out water bottles and snacks, and giving well-deserved high-fives.
“It was filled with excitement, emotion, and a strong sense of pride that we’re contributing to something good,” Frank added.
Carpet One Floor & Home President John Gilbert said he was thrilled with the opportunity to band together in the name of good.
“It’s part of our company culture to look out for our neighbors and help out where we can,” John said. “By funneling our collective effort towards this important cause that helps so many families with their homes, we hope to make an even greater impact.”
“There’s not only a lot of power within our collective divisions: there’s a lot of heart. Our hope is that the dedication and generosity all these divisions bring to everything they do will continue to benefit Tunnel to Towers and make an even more meaningful impact to the cause,” added Keith Spano, President of Flooring America, Flooring Canada, International Design Guild and The Floor Trader.
Support for the Foundation and its vital projects, including its Smart Home Program that provides mortgage-free homes to veterans with life-altering injuries, is ongoing throughout the year and remains at the helm of CCA’s mission of philanthropy and goodwill.
